My interest lays in finding and depicting similarities in human life and nature. The medium I most often work in is wood. Just like a fingerprint is a marker of our identity, a tree’s rings are a record of its unique life. The ring shape is reoccurring in my work, and speaks to themes of existence and individuality.

Juxtaposing ideas of unity and togetherness surface from the techniques with which I create. Many small elements are amassed, each one unique and interesting on its own. Yet, when arranged together something larger and stronger is formed, each individual element contributing to support the whole.

These themes are ever present in my collaborative works, where I invite the public to help create an installation. By participating, members of a community get linked to something bigger than themselves. The artwork becomes an experience rather than something to just look at.
